Location: Skipton, North Yorkshire
Salary: £12.71 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: 3 years Fixed-term

At NY Highways, you’ll gain real experience working on a large and varied fleet that helps keep the county’s road network running safely and efficiently. From day one, you’ll be part of a team learning how to service, maintain and repair vehicles in a professional workshop environment.
No previous experience is needed just enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
What you’ll be doing
As an Apprentice Vehicle Technician, you’ll build practical skills while working alongside experienced technicians.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Carrying out vehicle servicing and safety checks
- Assisting with MOT inspections and identifying wear and tear
- Repairing and replacing engine and vehicle components
- Using diagnostic tools to identify faults
- Preparing vehicles for maintenance and ensuring they meet safety standards
- Following health and safety procedures in a workshop environment

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for motivated individuals who are keen to start their career.
You should have:
- An interest in vehicles and how they work
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- A problem-solving mindset
Essential requirements:
- Aged 16 or over
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above), or willingness to achieve this
- A full UK driving licence, or working towards it

Training details

- Training will include a combination of workplace experience and college learning
Additional information
Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to:
- Work safely on vehicles and equipment used on public highways
- Undergo drug and alcohol testing in line with company policy
