Full job description

Job Overview
We are looking to hire a fish and shellfish packer / unit operative to join our wholesale packing team based at our Paignton Harbour base.

Minimum of 40 hours per week Mon - Fri (All of the team work more than this every week)

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling and packing seafood including whole fish, shellfish and live crab and lobster etc for our wholesale London customers. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for seafood and to develop their skills within a professional environment. The position is suitable for those who are organised, attentive to detail, and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality control.

Duties

Pack fish and shellfish according to specified standards and quality control.
Prep and filleting of fish - knife skills or previous experience is an advantage.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the packing area in compliance with food safety regulations / General unit cleanliness and maintenance tasks of the work space.
Goods in / goods out - temperature checks and logs.
Follow health and safety guidelines diligently during all packing activities.
Stock takes at the end of the shift and stock rotation.

Experience

Previous experience in food production, culinary settings, or kitchen environments is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of food safety protocols and hygiene practices is advantageous
Experience in restaurant, butchery, fishmonger or other food preparation roles will be considered a plus.
Previous working within a fast-paced environment is beneficial.

Applicants need to be organised, reliable and able to use their own initiative in the work place. We are a small, hardworking but fun team to be around.

Pay: £12.21-£13.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
