We are looking for an exceptional Head Chef to lead the culinary operation and help shape the next chapter of an exciting venue in the heart of Cheltenham.

This is a confidential opportunity for an ambitious and talented chef who wants genuine ownership of a kitchen operation and the chance to influence the food identity of a developing hospitality business.

This isn’t simply a role for someone who can produce great food. We’re looking for a chef who understands that a successful kitchen is built on quality, consistency, leadership, hospitality and commercial awareness.

The Role

As Head Chef, you will take full ownership of the kitchen operation — from food quality and menu development to team leadership and commercial performance.

You will:

Lead, develop and motivate the kitchen team, creating a culture of pride and accountability
Develop and maintain an exciting, high-quality and commercially viable food offer
Drive exceptional standards of consistency, quality and presentation
Take ownership of food costs, GP, ordering, stock control and waste management
Maintain outstanding food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards
Work closely with the General Manager and wider leadership team
Develop menus that reflect seasonality, quality and the overall dining experience
Support private dining, events and special occasions
Recruit, develop and retain a strong and engaged kitchen team
Ensure every plate leaving the kitchen meets the standard expected of the venue

Who We're Looking For

You will ideally have:

Proven experience as a Head Chef, or be an accomplished Senior Sous Chef ready to take the next step
Experience within a high-quality restaurant, hotel or comparable hospitality environment
Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how to run a successful kitchen operation
Excellent knowledge of food cost, GP, stock, waste and labour management
A genuine passion for quality ingredients and excellent food
Strong leadership and communication skills
The ability to remain calm, organised and decisive under pressure
High standards without unnecessary ego
The ambition to build something, rather than simply run something

Most importantly, you will understand that great food is only one part of great hospitality.

You’ll care about the entire guest experience and recognise the role the kitchen plays in creating somewhere people genuinely want to return to.
