We are looking for a full time Band 8a Family and Systemic Therapist to join Specialist Children’s services at North CAMHS - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service community team based at Woodside Health and Care Centre.

The shift pattern for Community CAMHS Teams is Monday-Friday 09.00-17.00 however we are willing to discuss the flexibility around your own shift pattern to meet the team’s needs. Family and Systemic Psychotherapy offers a specialist service in Specialist Children Services (SCS) Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (NHSGGC).
Family and Systemic Psychotherapy operates as a distinct profession within NHSGGC SCS and as part of the multi-disciplinary specialist clinical care provision. Family and Systemic Psychotherapy provides a service to children/young people up to 18 years’ old and their families where the child/young person is presenting with complex and severe psychological and mental health difficulties. Consultation to staff internal and external to the directorate system, teaching, training, supervision and promoting the ethos of systemic practice, are all components of the specialist service.
This Band 8a Highly Specialist Family and Systemic Psychotherapist post offers an advanced clinical, supervisory, and leadership opportunity within CAMHS NHSGGC Specialist Children’s Services. The successful candidate will provide highly specialist systemic assessment and therapy to children, young people, and families with complex mental health needs, while also offering consultation and advice to CAMHS colleagues, multi-agency partners, and carers.
Key responsibilities include autonomous delivery of evidence-based systemic interventions, leading and supervising Band 7 systemic psychotherapists, contributing to service development, and supporting research, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
Essential criteria include a Masters-level qualification in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy, registration with UKCP, significant post-qualification experience, and advanced skills in clinical leadership, supervision, and multi-agency working. Highly desirable attributes include Association of Family and Systemic Psychotherapists (AFSP) approved supervisor status, experience in teaching and training, and a strong track record in research and service development. A typical week may involve a blend of direct clinical work, multidisciplinary meetings, supervision, service development projects, and participation in training or audit activities.
The role provides rich opportunities for ongoing professional development, including access to supervision, CPD and the chance to shape innovative systemic practice within a dynamic, supportive team.
Essential:

Masters-level qualification (or equivalent) in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy.
- Registration with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
- Registration as an AFSP approved Supervisor is highly desirable or willingness to work towards this in a specific timescale.
- Core professional qualification in a relevant health or social care profession (or AFT-recognised equivalent) and demonstrable practice in a relevant setting
- Evidence of continuing professional development as required by AFSP/UKCP
Experience and Skills:

Significant post-qualification experience as a registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist.
- Experience in clinical leadership, supervision, and multi-agency working.
- Skills in teaching, training, and research are desirable.

The ability to travel independently across a number of NHS sites.
A driving licence is desirable. Within CAMHS we have robust CAMHS learning and development programme and encourage all staff to participate in ongoing learning. This includes a range of training such as essential CAMHS for those who are new to CAMHS.
