Job Title: Experienced Laser Operator – Sign Manufacturing
About Us
We are a leading sign manufacturing company producing bespoke signage for commercial, retail, industrial, and architectural clients throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Fibre Operator to join our production team.
The Role
You will be responsible for operating our 3kW laser cutting machine, producing precision-cut components for a wide range of signage projects. Working from production drawings and schedules, you’ll ensure all parts are manufactured accurately, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
This role is ideal for someone with previous experience in laser cutting who understands the demands of a fast-paced sign manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate a 3kW laser cutting machine.
Cut aluminium), stainless steel, mild steel, brass/copper to production specifications.
Read and interpret production drawings and CAD files.
Optimise material usage through efficient nesting and sheet management.
Carry out quality checks to ensure all components meet required tolerances and finish standards.
Perform routine machine maintenance and daily inspections.
Identify and resolve minor machine issues to minimise downtime.
Work closely with the fabrication, welding, and sign assembly teams to ensure production deadlines are achieved.
Maintain accurate production records.
Follow all company health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work area.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience operating laser cutting machines (3kW or similar).
Experience cutting aluminium, stainless steel, mild steel, brass/copper and sheet materials used within the signage industry.
Ability to read engineering drawings and production specifications.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a production team.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience within the sign manufacturing industry.
Experience with nesting software and production planning.
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
Experience operating CNC press brakes.
Forklift licence or overhead crane experience (advantageous but not essential).
