Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Mechanic operating on a self-employed basis to provide expert repair and maintenance services. This role offers the flexibility of working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with a focus on delivering high-quality vehicle repairs. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a professional manner. A comprehensive understanding of vehicle systems and hands-on experience with various tools are essential for success in this position.
Duties
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle issues using schematics and technical manuals
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, brake inspections, and tyre rotations
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to carry out repairs efficiently and safely
- Conduct assembly and disassembly of vehicle components during repair processes
- Identify faulty parts and execute equipment repairs or replacements as needed
- Maintain detailed records of all work undertaken for each vehicle
- Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair processes and advising on maintenance needs
- Undertake heavy lifting when required to move or position vehicle parts or equipment
Experience
- Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic with a strong understanding of mechanical systems
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and technical diagrams
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and assembly techniques
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and equipment repair methods
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during repairs or part replacements
- Prior experience working independently as a self-employed mechanic is preferred
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
