Job summary
The Senior Physiotherapist will deliver high-quality, specialist physiotherapy care across the Inpatient Stroke Unit and Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS). The role involves advanced assessment, treatment planning, and management of patients with complex stroke-related needs, ensuring a seamless transition between hospital, early supported discharge, and community rehabilitation services.
The post holder will manage a varied caseload using evidence-based, patient-centred approaches, contribute to service development and continuous improvement, and support multidisciplinary teams, carers, and external agencies through education and shared expertise. The role requires flexible working across a 7-day service, maintaining a strong commitment to delivering safe, effective care in the best interests of patients.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
To undertake a supporting role, in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Physiotherapy Service provided to clients within the service on a day-to-day basis.
To take an active role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the Stroke Unit and ICSS who may have a complex presentation and determine if/what physiotherapy treatment is indicated and deliver an individualised treatment programme. To work as an autonomous practitioner ensuring that records are maintained and up to date in line with policy and governing body HCPC.
To independently supervise, teach and appraise junior Physiotherapists, Associate Practitioners, Physiotherapy students and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, as determined by the team leader and professional lead.
