Customer Experience, E-commerce & Studio Manager
Shibumi | Gloucestershire | 5 days per week (option for 4 days) | £30,000–£34,000 depending on experience, pro rata for 4 days
About Shibumi
Shibumi is an established independent fashion brand creating distinctive, timeless clothing in beautiful natural fabrics.
The Role
We're looking for an exceptionally organised, warm and stylish person to become a key part of our small team and take ownership of the day-to-day customer experience, ecommerce and smooth running of our showroom and studio.
This is a wonderfully varied role for someone who loves people, beautiful clothes and getting things organised, and who takes real satisfaction from making sure everything is done properly. You might spend one day styling customers in our showroom, and another managing orders, liaising with our production team in India, updating and merchandising our Shopify website, or making sure everything behind the scenes is running smoothly.
This is ideally a five day a week role, although we are very happy to consider four days for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Styling
- Welcoming and styling customers during private showroom appointments
- Providing exceptional, personal customer service by email, telephone and in person
- Helping customers choose colours, shapes and outfits that make them look and feel wonderful
- Keeping customers informed about deliveries and resolving problems when they arise
Orders & Production
- Managing customer orders from purchase through to delivery
- Liaising with our production team in India and following up outstanding orders
- Preparing and sending our weekly production order
- Processing returns and exchanges
Ecommerce & Website
- Managing Shopify day to day, including products, stock, collections, prices and website updates
- Helping keep the online shop accurate, organised and beautifully presented
- Making sure the site reflects current stock and collections accurately at all times
Organisation & Administration
- Maintaining customer records, digital files and general administration
- Supporting occasional shows and events
- Proactively spotting what needs doing and getting on with it
There is a separate team member responsible for ironing/steaming, wrapping and dispatching orders, and marketing is managed separately. This is not a marketing role, although someone with a good eye may occasionally help capture content or support the marketing person with imagery, styling and ideas.
About You
The right person will be:
- Exceptional with customers
- Highly organised and reliable
- Stylish, with a natural eye for colour, clothes and proportion
- Comfortable with ecommerce and digital systems — Shopify experience would be a real advantage, and we're very happy to train someone who is digitally confident and learns quickly
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Calm, persistent and good at following things through
- Confident juggling several priorities without letting things slip
- A strong communicator, both written and verbal
- Someone who notices details and takes real pride in doing a job well
On experience: we genuinely mean it when we say this can come from a range of backgrounds — fashion, premium retail, bridal, interiors, hospitality, ecommerce, client services, or another highly customer-focused environment. We care far more about your customer instinct, organisation, reliability, eye for style, and comfort with ecommerce than the specific sector you've worked in or a set number of years.
About Shibumi
Shibumi has been creating colourful, individual clothing for over 22 years. We're a small independent business with a lot of heart, and this role will be an important one within the team. You'll work closely with Ruth, our Founder & Creative Director, while having real ownership of the customer experience, ecommerce and smooth day-to-day running of the showroom and studio.
This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys people, beautiful clothes, responsibility and organisation, and who likes being an important part of a small business rather than one small cog in a large organisation.
Hours & Salary
5 days per week, based at our Gloucestershire showroom, with the option of 4 days for the right candidate. Our preference is for five days, but we are very happy to consider an exceptional candidate looking for a four-day working week.
Salary: £30,000–£34,000 per year, depending on experience (pro rata if working 4 days).
This is an in-person rather than remote position.
