About Us
Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire is one of the UK's leading independent holiday cottage agencies, helping thousands of guests discover exceptional places to stay across West Wales. Technology is at the heart of everything we do, from our customer-facing websites and applications to the systems that power our business.
We're looking for a Junior Software Developer to join our team in Haverfordwest. This is an excellent opportunity for a developer with at least two years' commercial experience who wants to broaden their skills, take on real responsibility, and work across a wide variety of projects.
The Role
Working closely with our Senior Developer, you'll be involved in developing and maintaining the systems that support our business and our customers. You'll gain hands-on experience across websites, internal business systems, APIs and integrations, contributing throughout the full software development lifecycle.
As part of a small development team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of technologies and make a genuine impact on the business from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain new features for our websites and internal systems.
- Build and consume REST APIs.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code.
- Work with SQL Server databases.
- Collaborate using Git version control.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve software issues.
- Develop and maintain applications using C# and Umbraco CMS.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- At least two years' commercial software development experience.
- Good knowledge of JavaScript.
- Experience developing with C# and .NET.
- Experience working with SQL Server.
- Familiarity with REST APIs.
- Experience using Git.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and develop.
Desirable
- Experience with Umbraco CMS.
- Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks.
About You
You're someone who enjoys solving problems and takes pride in writing quality software. You're eager to learn, communicate well with colleagues, and can work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
This role is ideal for someone looking to expand their technical skills by working across a broad range of projects rather than specialising in a single application or technology.
Why Join Coastal Cottages?
Working in a small, experienced team means you'll gain exposure to every aspect of software development, from customer-facing websites and APIs to internal business systems and integrations with Online Travel Agencies. You'll have the opportunity to learn directly from senior technical leadership while making meaningful contributions to products used by thousands of customers every day.
