Support Worker (Learning Disabilities / Autism)

Previous experience is not required - you will receive the training you need to perform your duties safely and effectively.
What you’ll be doing
This is a hands-on, people-first role where you’ll support individuals to build independence, confidence and everyday life skills. Always in a person-centred, non-controlling way that respects people’s choices, rights and wishes. No two days are the same, but your work will typically include:
- Promoting independence and a “Good Life” with a person-centred approach
- Working at the pace of the person you support on their terms
- Helping with everyday living skills such as cooking, maintaining a home, keeping safe, and participating in community life
- Providing personal care (including intimate and non-intimate care) in a dignified, respectful way, and supporting people to do as much for themselves as possible
- Supporting with medication and health-related routines (in line with training and procedures)
- Following support plans and working safely with risk assessments and guidance and reporting any concerns or incidents immediately
- Keeping clear, accurate records for every visit, including outcomes and obtaining consent/ countersignatures
- Communicating with families and partner professionals (e.g. nurses, social workers) as part of a joined-up approach
- As a result of our tailored training program, you will develop substantial confidence and skills supporting people in community settings and dealing with a broad range of ordinary life situations.
Wages/ Benefits
- Pay ranges from £12.75/hr to £13.45/hr depending on level of social care qualification.

- Permanent contracts are available for Full-Time, Part-Time, and for Casual / Relief work (see below)

Below is an indication of minimum earnings for Full-Time Support Workers:
- Full-time newbie Support Workers earn minimum £28,878 per annum (based on 37.5hrs per week plus 3 sleeps per fortnight).
- Full-time qualified Support Worker earn minimum £29,482 per annum (based on 37.5 hrs per week plus 3 sleeps per fortnight).
Hours/ Shift patterns
Support Workers work as part of a team on a rota basis including days, sleeps, weekends. Shifts normally include lone working with sleep-ins in dedicated guest quarters within the person’s home. You’ll always have access to our 24/7 On Call Service for support/advice at all times.
We offer flexible opportunities for full-time or part-time working with various contracts available including:
- Full-time 37.5 hours per week; usually with 3 sleep-ins per fortnight
- Part-time ranging from 15-30 hours per week plus 1-2 sleep-ins per week
- Casual/relief arrangements so you can work shifts according to your schedule/ availability
Training and Development
We provide a comprehensive Training and Development Program tailored to meet your level of previous experience. We welcome applications from all individuals, whether experienced or not (we will train you). Your training will enable you to confidently meet role requirements within 28 days of joining. Our training and development program will grow you into a highly competent, versatile Support Worker and a key part of our Outstanding service. Training opportunities include Professional/Vocational training (e.g. Level 3 Health and Social Care).
