About the role
This internship provides an opportunity to support the Operations team in defining, analysing, and reporting key business metrics. The role focuses on leveraging data generated from the BigChange platform and other operational systems to create meaningful insights through Power BI dashboards and reports.
The intern will contribute to improving visibility of operational performance, helping drive data-led decision making and continuous improvement across the business.
Duties and responsibilities
- Work with the Operations team to identify and define key business metrics (KPIs) aligned to operational goals
- Extract, cleanse, and structure data from the BigChange application and other relevant data sources
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to visualise performance metrics
- Support the creation of standardised reporting packs for internal stakeholders
- Analyse data trends and provide actionable insights to improve operational performance
- Assist in documenting metric definitions, data models, and reporting processes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and refine outputs
- Support ad hoc data analysis and reporting requests as required
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reporting outputs
Location and working hours:
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- 3 month fixed term contract
- Office location: Peterborough (with flexibility if applicable)
- Occasional travel may be required for meetings
Essential skills and qualifications:
- Currently studying (or recently completed) a degree in Business, Data Analytics, IT, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Basic understanding of data visualisation and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Ability to work with data sets and attention to detail
- Good communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple tasks
Desirable:
- Experience using Power BI (including dashboards and data models)
- Familiarity with operational systems or field service platforms (e.g. BigChange or similar)
- Basic knowledge of SQL or data querying
- Understanding of KPI design and performance management
- Previous internship or project experience involving data analysis
