Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeping and Payroll Assistant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will support bookkeeping and payroll processing, data entry, and related administrative tasks to ensure accurate and timely employee payments. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a strong organisational aptitude to develop their skills within human resources and accounting software environments.

Key Responsibilities

Process monthly payroll using Sage 50 Payroll
Maintain accurate financial records using Sage 50 Accounts and Xero
Reconcile accounts, prepare journals, and support month‑end processes
Manage invoices, receipts, and supplier payments
Assist with VAT returns and general bookkeeping duties
Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations
Provide administrative and financial support to the wider team

About you

Minimum 2 years’ experience in payroll and bookkeeping
Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll, Sage 50 Accounts, and Xero
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
A proactive, reliable, and professional approach
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position provides an engaging environment for professionals eager to advance their expertise in payroll administration within a supportive team setting.

Pay: £26,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
