Salary: £28,000 - £31,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Littleport, Ely
Working Pattern: Hybrid (4 days office-based, 1 day working from home)

We are currently seeking a Payroll & HR Administrator to join our growing team. This role would suit someone with payroll experience who is looking to broaden their skills within HR and develop their career in a supportive environment.
The Opportunity
This is a varied role with a strong focus on payroll administration while providing support across recruitment, onboarding, employee records, and general HR activities.
We are happy to consider candidates with a minimum of 1 year's payroll experience, and full training will be provided on our HR processes and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll
- Process monthly payroll for approximately 200 employees
- Support the transition from Xero Payroll to Sage 50 Payroll
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data
- Assist with payroll calculations, deductions, pensions, PAYE, and National Insurance
- Support payroll reconciliations and reporting
- Respond to payroll-related employee queries
HR Administration
- Support recruitment activities, including arranging interviews and communicating with candidates
- Assist with onboarding and new starter administration
- Conduct Right to Work checks and maintain employee records
- Prepare contracts, letters, and HR documentation
- Support absence management administration
- Assist with employee lifecycle activities, including leavers and contract changes
- Support screening and vetting processes (training provided)
General
- Build positive working relationships across the business
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and company policies
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll and HR processes
- Provide administrative support to the Finance Manager when required
About You
Essential
- At least 1 year of payroll experience
- Understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, and workplace pensions
- Experience using payroll software
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
Desirable
- Experience using Xero, Sage, BrightPay, IRIS, ADP, or similar payroll systems
- Previous HR administration experience
- Experience supporting recruitment or onboarding activities
- CIPD or CIPP qualification, or working towards one
- Experience within a fast-paced operational environment
