Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Analytical Chemist to join our laboratory team, specializing in the testing of fuels, crude oil, and chemical products. The successful candidate will perform analytical evaluations of marine fuel samples, interpret test results, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings effectively to clients.
This role requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of petrochemical test methods and laboratory operations. While the successful candidate may not be required to perform every analytical test, they should possess a comprehensive understanding of the testing lifecycle, including sample handling, analytical techniques, instrumentation, data interpretation, and reporting.
The ideal candidate will also be proficient in scientific documentation, technical writing, and statistical analysis, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both internal stakeholders and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with laboratory safety requirements, quality standards, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Perform analytical evaluations and support testing activities for fuels, crude oil, and chemical products.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret analytical data to generate accurate and comprehensive technical reports.
- Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for sample tracking, data management, and report generation.
- Ensure all reports are accurate, concise, and delivered to clients within established timelines.
- Respond to client enquiries and provide professional explanations of analytical results and testing progress.
- Manage client communications effectively through email, telephone, and other communication channels.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel, scientists, and management to support operational and technical objectives.
- Anticipate project requirements and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Prepare technical updates, white papers, scientific documentation, and other technical publications as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the laboratory.
RequirementsEducation
- Master's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably within the petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, or testing industry.
- Experience working with internationally recognized testing standards and laboratory quality systems is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and techniques, including:
- ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma)
- GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry)
- DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry)
- Titration methods
- Chromatographic techniques
- Working knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Strong data analysis, interpretation, and technical reporting capabilities.
