We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled infrastructure professional who is passionate about maintaining secure, reliable, and high performing enterprise systems while contributing to strategic technology initiatives.
As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for managing critical infrastructure, supporting cloud and on premises environments, improving system performance, and ensuring the availability and security of business systems.
You will work closely with engineering, cybersecurity, and service delivery teams to deliver robust technology solutions that support business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux server environments.
- Manage Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft 365 services.
- Support virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper V.
- Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and reliability across enterprise infrastructure.
- Manage cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
- Implement security best practices, system hardening, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Perform server upgrades, software deployments, and infrastructure maintenance.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks.
- Configure and support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, and operating system issues.
- Produce technical documentation, operational procedures, and infrastructure diagrams.
- Collaborate with project teams on infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and technology implementations.
- Mentor junior administrators and provide technical leadership across the IT team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Systems Administrator, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar senior level role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration and enterprise infrastructure management.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Group Policy, and Exchange Online.
- Experience administering Azure or Amazon Web Services environments.
- Strong understanding of virtualization technologies including VMware or Hyper V.
- Knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Experience with backup technologies, disaster recovery planning, and high availability solutions.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, identity management, and endpoint security.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified, VMware Certified Professional, Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or equivalent are desirable.
