We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our Toolroom team, playing a key role in the manufacture of high-precision components for a wide variety of engineering and automation projects. You will work primarily on bespoke and low-volume components rather than repetitive production runs, offering variety and technical challenges in every project.
This position is ideal for a skilled machinist who enjoys working autonomously and taking ownership of components and projects from initial drawing through to completion. Applications from candidates willing to relocate are welcomed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture precision components for machinery and automation projects
- Program, set, and operate CNC and manual milling machines and lathes as required
- Produce high-quality components to tight tolerances within commercial timeframes
- Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
- Use a range of metrology equipment to self-inspect and approve components
- Work with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards
- Support other departments with design input and component modifications to meet customer requirements, sometimes at short notice
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
- Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime when required by the business
Experience with XYZ ProtoTRAK and Siemens CNC controllers is desirable, though full training can be provided.
About You
You will ideally be:
- A time-served or highly experienced machinist / turner
- Experienced in either milling or turning (experience in both is highly desirable)
- Passionate about precision engineering and delivering work to a high standard
- Comfortable working independently while also contributing positively to a team environment
- Willing to mentor junior team members when required
- Interested in working within a growing business serving international clients
Experience with additional machine shop processes, such as surface grinding, would be advantageous but is not essential.
