Support Worker – Plymouth

We’re looking for a Support Worker to join our friendly, supportive team in providing exceptional care to an older adult who lives in a care home.
This role is not just about care—it’s an opportunity to develop valuable rehabilitation skills. You’ll receive training and supervision to build expertise in supporting therapeutic activities.
Our client has a wonderful sense of humour, with a love for attending Argyle matches, visiting coastal areas and golf. He sustained an acquired brain injury in 2002, has residual left sided weakness, cognitive difficulties and some behavioural issues. He mobilises with a walker and thrives on meaningful activity and social interaction.

Your Role Will Include
· Supporting the client with appointments, activities, and social outings. (A full driving licence is essential.)
· Possibility of supporting the client during hydrotherapy sessions, so confidence in water is a must.
· Encouraging his independence while following his personalised health and wellbeing plan.
· Helping him participate in leisure and social activities, both at home and in the community.
· Assisting with therapeutic programmes, as directed by professionals.
· Monitoring and reporting any significant changes in his health or behaviour to the team.
· Ensuring he enjoys a balanced routine of activity and rest.

What You’ll Need
· A passion for care and rehabilitation
· NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (desirable but not essential).
· Basic IT skills for email and electronic records.
· An enhanced DBS check (required for this role, fully paid for by the client if needed)
· Full driving licence to drive the client’s car
About the Employer
You will be employed directly by the client. However, SSCM oversees all aspects of the client’s care package to ensure a high standard of care and team support.

Job Type: Part Time
Pay:
£14.60 per hour weekdays
£15.72 per hour weekends
Bank holiday rates 2 x the weekday rate of pay
Shifts:
Approx 9 hours per week - 6 hours per shift with the possibility of an additional hour depending on activities, over a 2-week fixed rolling rota:
Week 1 = Saturday
Week 2 = Monday, Saturday
