The Company is the 100% owner of the previously producing Hemerdon mine, which is currently the 3rd largest tungsten resource in the world. With demand for strategic metals, including tungsten and tin, increasing rapidly due to their critical use in new technology, Tungsten West is focussed on meeting this demand by restarting production at Hemerdon in the next 12 months.

Job purpose:
The Mobile Plant Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all maintenance activities for mobile mining equipment during their assigned shift. The role ensures that all servicing, inspections and repairs are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with site priorities to maximise equipment availability and reliability while maintaining strict compliance with health, safety and environment standards.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise all planned and reactive maintenance activities on mobile plant including haul trucks, excavators, loading shovels, dozers, graders, and support equipment.
- Ensure maintenance tasks are completed in accordance with maintenance schedules, OEM guidelines, and site standards.
- Coordinate breakdown repairs to minimise equipment downtime and restore availability quickly.
- Prioritise workload based on operational requirements and plant criticality.
- Monitor work quality to ensure repairs are completed safely and to a high standard
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture aligned with zero-harm objectives.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with site HSE policies, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
- Conduct toolbox talks, shift briefings, and safety inspections within workshops and field environments.
- Ensure isolation procedures (LOTOTO), confined space, and working-at-height protocols are followed where applicable.
- Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Lead, supervise, and support a team of fitters, technicians, auto electricians, and support staff.
- Allocate tasks and manage shift workloads to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to maintenance personnel.Monitor performance, attendance, and compliance with company policies.
- Foster strong communication between maintenance, operations, and planning teams.
- Ensure completion of routine inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Identify recurring faults and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with maintenance planners to optimise maintenance schedules and reduce downtime.
- Monitor equipment condition and utilisation to improve reliability and asset life.
- Ensure accurate recording of work carried out using CMMS or maintenance systems.
- Execute shift maintenance plans in line with weekly and daily schedules.
- Provide detailed shift handovers including outstanding defects, ongoing repairs, and priorities.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, including job completion, downtime, and parts usage.
- Liaise with parts and stores teams to ensure availability of critical spares and consumables.
- Support shutdown planning and execution when required.
Skills & Qualifications:
Essentials:
- Proven experience in maintenance of heavy mobile plant within a mining or heavy industry environment.
- Previous supervisory experience within a maintenance team.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of mining equipment (e.g., Komatsu, Caterpillar, Hitachi, Volvo).
- Solid understanding of preventative maintenance, fault finding, and repair techniques.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations in high-risk environments.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage breakdown situations effectively.
Desirable:
- Recognised engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent).
- IOSH / NEBOSH qualification.
- Experience using CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto, Maximo).
- High Voltage / Auto Electrical competency (beneficial).
- First Aid certification.
