Job Title: Warehouse Supervisor (Within Busy Pallet Network)

Location: Littlehampton
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, Saturdays on a rota (Mornings) with flexibility to work overtime to meet operational requirements.
Job Purpose
The Warehouse supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day warehouse operation within a busy pallet network environment. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and accurate loading, unloading, sorting, scanning, storage, and dispatch of palletised freight while supervising warehouse operatives to achieve operational targets, customer service standards, and health and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and supervise warehouse operatives across all shifts.
- Allocate workloads to ensure pallet network deadlines and service levels are achieved.
- Provide training, coaching, and support to develop team performance.
- Conduct shift briefings and communicate operational priorities.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and individual performance.
- Promote a positive, safety-focused working environment.
Pallet Network Operations
- Assist the loader team leader in the safe loading and unloading of palletised freight from network trailers and collection vehicles.
- In the absence of the loader team leader ensure freight is accurately scanned, labelled, sorted, and routed in accordance with pallet network operating procedures.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound pallet network vehicles to achieve agreed departure and arrival schedules.
- Monitor trailer turnaround times and loading efficiency.
- Ensure all freight is handled safely to minimise damage and maintain service quality.
- Investigate and report freight shortages, damages, misroutes, and loading discrepancies.
- Work closely with transport planners, customer service teams, drivers, and pallet network hubs to resolve operational issues.
- Ensure all pallet network service standards and operational KPIs are consistently achieved.
Warehouse Operations
- Ensure existing WMS is up to date and data is accurate.
- Oversee the receipt, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods.
- Ensure stock and freight movements are accurately recorded using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and scanning equipment.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse.
- Ensure warehouse equipment, including forklift trucks and pallet handling equipment, is used safely and maintained correctly.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with company policies and UK health and safety legislation.
- Promote safe manual handling techniques and the correct use of PPE.
- Supervise forklift truck operations and ensure authorised operators follow safe working procedures.
- Conduct routine warehouse safety inspections and report hazards.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions where required.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor key performance indicators including:
- Vehicle turnaround times
- Loading and unloading productivity
- Freight accuracy
- Damage rates
- On-time departures
- Warehouse productivity
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency and pallet network performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer service and operational effectiveness.
Administration
- Complete warehouse and transport documentation accurately.
- Update Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transport Management Systems (TMS), and pallet network systems.
- Produce shift reports and communicate operational issues to the General Manager.
- Ensure all freight documentation is completed accurately and on time.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience as a Warehouse Team Leader or Supervisor within a pallet network, logistics, freight, or distribution environment.
- Strong understanding of pallet network operations and palletised freight handling.
- Experience supervising the loading and unloading of trailers.
- Knowledge of warehouse scanning systems, WMS, and transport operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Good understanding of UK health and safety legislation.
Desirable
- Counterbalance and/or Reach Forklift Truck licence.
- Experience using pallet network systems.
- First Aid at Work qualification.

Pay: £32,000.00-£37,500.00 per year
