Full job description

Job Title: Housing Officer
Type: Permanent
Location: Cardiff
Salary: £33000 - £38000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

BRC are working closely with a leading housing association to recruit an experienced Income / Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join their Housing Management team.

This role involves managing a designated patch of properties, maximising rental income, supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies, and responding to anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases. The successful candidate will work closely with residents, partner agencies and internal teams to deliver high-quality housing management services and create safe, sustainable communities.

Duties:

Manage a caseload of rent accounts, ensuring arrears are monitored and appropriate recovery action is taken.
Support tenants to sustain their tenancies through early intervention and advice.
Investigate and manage anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases, taking appropriate action in line with policies and procedures.
Conduct home visits and estate inspections to maintain strong customer engagement.
Work in partnership with external agencies, including local authorities, support providers and the police, to resolve tenancy-related issues.
Prepare case files, witness statements and legal documentation where required.
Attend court hearings and represent the organisation where appropriate.
Promote tenancy compliance and provide advice on rights and responsibilities.
Maintain accurate records and case notes using housing management systems.
Ensure all work is carried out in line with relevant legislation, policies and best practice.

Requirements:

Experience managing rent arrears and/or anti-social behaviour cases within a social housing environment.
Good knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy management and income recovery processes.
Experience working with vulnerable customers and providing tenancy sustainment support.
Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise workloads effectively.
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and housing management systems.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (where required).
