This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Endoscopy Nurse to join an innovative team at UHD. We have a dedicated newly built CDC unit opening in July 2026 to facilitate a Hub and spoke model of care for our patients. We also provide wider expertise and support to the Dorset Network. The role will include working across the acute and elective pathways and providing that expertise and leadership.
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate nurse who has a proven track record of leadership and change management that delivers exceptional standards of patient care. You will be an expert practitioner responsible for clinical leadership, operational management and strategic development of the Endoscopy services working closely alongside the senior leadership team.
The post holder will play a key role in improving clinical outcomes and enhancing the role of nurse led services and working towards an integrated approach to care.

- To provide strategic leadership and vision for Endoscopy Nursing team in UHD.
- To ensure we have a quality driven service which is responsive and equitable.
- To take the lead role in operational management of the Endoscopy service, working alongside lead consultants and service managers
- To champion Endoscopy nursing within the wider nursing community and undertake relevant service development reviews.
- To balance the role across leadership priorities and clinical activity.
UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.

- Provide clinical leadership to the Endoscopy nursing team across the three units.
- Provide non‑clinical leadership, acting autonomously to ensure the smooth day‑to‑day management of the Endoscopy Units.
- Work alongside the Band 7 Practice Educator to ensure the continuous development of their own knowledge and skills, as well as those of all Endoscopy staff, to maintain consistent standards of clinical practice.
- Act as a resource to others and develop, deliver, and evaluate a range of specialist education and development programmes for individuals and larger groups, including the wider multidisciplinary team, both internal and external to the Trust.
- Directly and indirectly influence all aspects of care delivered to patients using the Endoscopy service, ensuring that practice is based on the best available evidence through effective prioritisation and collaboration with colleagues.
- Be actively involved in developing endoscopic practice to support the Trust in achieving local and national objectives and contribute to the ongoing development of Endoscopy services.
- Maintain JAG accreditation for the unit by ensuring compliance with JAG requirements and overseeing the completion and submission of required data (e.g., census and annual report card).
- Contribute to nursing policy and clinical service development within colorectal, gastroenterology, and endoscopy services, supporting delivery of the Trust’s strategic agenda.
- Plan and manage complete episodes of care in collaboration with consultants and other professionals, delegating and referring appropriately to ensure timely, effective management and optimal health outcomes in line with evidence‑based and nationally recognised best practice.
- Play a key operational role and maintain a proactive approach to managing and leading clinical pathways and patient flow.
- Work closely with the multi‑professional team to lead the Endoscopy nursing service in delivering high‑quality care within performance and financial frameworks.
