Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our new restaurant opening in The Dolphin, Poole. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Japanese cuisine, specialising in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating authentic, high-quality sushi dishes. The Sushi Chef will also contribute to maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations, and inspiring team members with their culinary expertise.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistic flair, ensuring authentic presentation and flavour.
- Source fresh ingredients and manage inventory to maintain quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely service during busy periods.
- Innovate new sushi recipes and assist in menu development to keep offerings exciting for guests.
- Train junior staff members on sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
- Ensure all food is prepared according to established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
- Monitor food quality during service and make adjustments as necessary to uphold consistency.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a reputable establishment.
- Extensive knowledge of Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi techniques, knife skills, and ingredient handling.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail in food presentation and quality control.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Good understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Creative flair for developing innovative sushi dishes that appeal to diverse tastes.

Pay: £12.21-£17.14 per hour
