Full job description

About the Role

Llandarcy Academy of Sport is seeking enthusiastic, motivated and customer-focused individuals to join our fitness team as Casual Gym Instructors.

This is a flexible role with hours available across our opening times, including mornings, evenings and weekends. Hours will vary from week to week according to business needs.

The successful candidate will supervise gym users, provide fitness instruction and support, set up and take down equipment for fitness activities, and help maintain a safe, welcoming and professional environment for all members and customers. There will also be opportunities to deliver adult fitness classes for suitably qualified instructors.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise members and users within the gym and fitness areas.
Provide safe and effective instruction on gym equipment and exercise techniques.
Support members with fitness advice, basic programme guidance and general enquiries.
Deliver adult fitness classes where qualified and required.
Set up and dismantle equipment for fitness classes and activities.
Ensure all equipment is used safely and stored correctly.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout fitness areas.
Promote a positive customer experience and deal with customer enquiries professionally.
Assist with the promotion of fitness programmes, memberships and activities.
Follow all Health & Safety procedures, Normal Operating Procedures (NOPs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
Administer first aid when required (training can be provided).
Work as part of the wider leisure team to support the operation of the facility.

Essential Requirements

Level 2 Gym Instructor Qualification.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Awareness of health and safety within a fitness environment.
Friendly, professional and approachable manner.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Desirable Requirements

Group Exercise / Fitness Class Instructor Qualification.
First Aid Qualification.
Experience working in a gym, leisure or fitness environment.
Experience delivering fitness classes to adults.
Knowledge of fitness, exercise and nutrition principles.
Safeguarding awareness or training.
