Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MOT Tester to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting vehicle safety inspections in accordance with legal requirements, ensuring vehicles meet all safety standards before they are driven on public roads. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for vehicle safety. The MOT Tester will play a vital role in maintaining our reputation for quality and reliability, contributing to the safety of our customers and the wider community.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough MOT inspections on a variety of vehicle makes and models, ensuring compliance with current legislation and safety standards.
Use hand tools and power tools to perform necessary checks, adjustments, and minor repairs during inspections.
Accurately record inspection results, complete required documentation, and issue certificates upon successful completion.
Identify any defects or issues that require further attention or repair work, advising customers accordingly.
Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the inspection bay and tools to ensure a safe working environment.
Assist with general vehicle servicing and repair tasks as needed, including heavy lifting of parts or equipment.
Keep up-to-date with changes in MOT legislation, technical standards, and industry best practices through ongoing training.

Qualifications

Proven experience as an MOT Tester or in a similar automotive inspection role.
Mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand vehicle systems and components.
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills to ensure accurate record keeping.
Valid MOT testing licence recognised by the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency).
Good communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
