Family Law Paralegal
Gosport | Full time, office based | £26,000 to £32,000 depending on experience
RecQuest is recruiting on behalf of a boutique South Coast law firm that is looking to appoint a Family Law Paralegal to join its Gosport office.
This is a particularly strong opportunity for someone who wants more than a standard support role. The firm is actively developing its family law offering, so this role gives the right person the chance to join at an early stage, gain meaningful exposure, and help shape how the department grows.
You will be working closely with an experienced senior lawyer, with support from the wider litigation team. The work will focus on family law matters including divorce and separation, financial matters, and child arrangements, with the potential for your responsibilities to grow as the department develops.
This would suit someone who already has meaningful family law experience and is looking for a role where they can take ownership, build confidence, and become a valued part of a growing practice area.
The role
You will support across a range of privately funded family law matters. Depending on your experience, your duties may include:
- Assisting with divorce and separation matters
- Supporting on financial remedy work
- Helping with child arrangement matters
- Preparing correspondence and client documents
- Liaising with clients, courts, counsel and third parties
- Managing file administration and key deadlines
- Supporting the senior lawyer with case progression
- Taking on appropriate file responsibility as your experience develops
This is not a role where you will simply be added into a large, established team and given narrow process work. You will be joining at a point where the department is growing, which creates real opportunity for someone who is proactive, organised and genuinely interested in family law.
About you
The firm is looking for someone with meaningful experience in family law, ideally gained as a Family Law Paralegal, Legal Assistant or similar.
You will need to be:
- Experienced in family law, ideally with exposure to divorce, finances and children matters
- Confident dealing with clients sensitively and professionally
- Organised, accurate and able to manage competing priorities
- Comfortable taking initiative in a developing department
- Keen to build your experience and take on more responsibility over time
- Based within sensible commuting distance of Gosport
- Happy to work full time from the office
The honest part
This is a fully office based role in Gosport. It is not hybrid or remote.
The department is being built, which means there is genuine room to grow, but also an expectation that you will take initiative and contribute to the development of the family law offering.
