Full job description

Term-time Only, Permanent Role

SFCA Support Staff pay spine points 10 – 12 (£27,733.00 - £29,544.00 per annum, £23,647.93 - £25,192.17 pro-rata)

The College is looking to appoint an organised and enthusiastic Science Technician (Biology). The post holder will work as part of a team to deliver practical equipment and materials for the biology department, so that staff and students can carry out practical work efficiently, accurately and safely.

The successful candidate will prepare materials for practical classes, demonstrations, and examinations, ensuring all chemicals are accurately labelled and ready for use. You will monitor stock levels regularly, completing internal requisitions to maintain adequate supplies, and maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the prep room.

This role will involve ensure the safe disposal of biohazardous and chemical waste, caring for plants kept for observation or experiment, handling dissection materials, including locusts, rats, mammalian organs and fish heads, and providing technical advice within own area of expertise to teachers and students.
