The Service Coordinator is responsible for coordinating field service activities for CNC machine tools and associated equipment. The role involves scheduling service engineers, managing customer service requests, coordinating breakdown response, supporting preventative maintenance activities, and ensuring efficient communication between customers, engineers, and internal departments.
The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills while working in a fast-paced environment and experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Service Coordination
- Schedule and coordinate field service engineers for:
- Machine breakdowns
- Preventative maintenance visits
- Machine installations
- Service contracts
- Machine commissioning
- Warranty work
- Prioritise urgent machine downtime situations.
- Monitor engineer availability, travel, and workload.
Customer Support
- Act as the primary contact for customer service enquiries.
- Log and track service calls through CRM/FMS system.
- Provide customers with service updates and estimated response times.
- Escalate critical technical or commercial issues when required.
Administrative Duties
- Prepare service quotations and service reports.
- Sales duties converting customer quotations to orders.
- Raise purchase orders and process service documentation.
- Maintain accurate service records and machine histories.
- Coordinate warranty claims and documentation.
- Prepare RAMS (Risk and Method Statements).
- Goods Inwards & Goods Outwards, courier bookings.
Spare Parts Coordination
- Liaise with suppliers regarding availability of spare parts.
- Arrange shipment of urgent breakdown parts.
- Track critical service components and consumables.
Technical Coordination
- Support engineers with technical documentation and service history.
- Liaise with the Technical Engineering Manager to escalate customer/engineer support when required.
- Coordinate with OEM suppliers and control manufacturers including:
- Heidenhain
- Siemens
- Fanuc
- Assist with machine software/license coordination where applicable.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/CRM systems.
- Understanding of engineering terminology and service processes.

Salary Range
- £16,000 – £28,000 depending on experience and technical background.
