An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician to join Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on a 3-month fixed-term basis to provide short-term absence cover within the Community Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics Service.
Based primarily at Ashton Health Centre, Preston , the successful candidate will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management for children and young people with neurodevelopmental and neurodisability conditions across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble. The role includes supporting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, epilepsy, learning disabilities and complex developmental needs, as well as contributing to Initial Health Assessments for Looked After Children and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) advice.
The post holder will work as part of a well-established multidisciplinary team, participating in autism and ADHD assessment pathways, MDT meetings, clinical governance, service development and monthly triage activities.
This is a 10 PA post with no acute paediatric, safeguarding or on-call commitments , offering an excellent opportunity to support continuity of care and maintain service capacity during a period of consultant absence.
The post holder will provide consultant-led specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of children and young people with neurodevelopmental and neurodisability conditions across Preston, Chorley & South Ribble. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will support delivery of high-quality community paediatric services, with a focus on autism, ADHD, epilepsy, learning disability and complex neurodevelopmental needs.
Main responsibilities include:
Managing a specialist community paediatric caseload and undertaking assessment, investigation and treatment of children with neurodevelopmental and neurodisability conditions.
Contributing to multidisciplinary assessment pathways for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD, including attendance at weekly MDT meetings and diagnostic panels.
Undertaking Initial Health Assessments for Looked After Children and providing medical advice to support Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Working collaboratively with education, therapy services, CAMHS, learning disability teams and paediatric neurology colleagues to deliver integrated care.
Participating in monthly triage, clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development activities.
Providing clinical leadership, supervision and advice to medical and multidisciplinary colleagues where appropriate.
Maintaining high standards of patient care, safeguarding practice, appraisal, revalidation and continuing professional development
