Peripatetic Head Chef

Northcare Residences Glasgow

Contract: Full Time
Salary: £50,000

Location: Working across all Northcare Glasgow and East Kilbride Care Homes
Annual Salary: £50,000
Working Hours: Full Time Position, 5 days per week, every 2nd weekend off

We are looking for a passionate and reliable Chef to join our friendly care home team. You will play an important role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals that support the health and wellbeing of our residents.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking fresh meals, understands dietary requirements, and wants a better work-life balance than traditional hospitality environments.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook fresh nutritious meals for residents daily
Home baking to high standards: Celebration cakes, deserts & sweet snacks
Cater for specialist diets including Allergens & intolerances, IDDSI texture diets, Diabetic, food fortification, religious requirements and more.
Prepare and execute fine dining main course & desserts for private dining events within the care home to the highest standards
Manage all kitchen duties during head chefs absence
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
Manage stock rotation, ordering, and portion control
Ability to work within budgets
Ensure compliance with HACCP, Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations
Lead, motivate and supervise direct staff
Work closely with care staff to meet residents’ individual dietary needs
Create varied menus that residents enjoy, including theme menu’s & events.

Requirements

Previous fine dining experience, catering in restaurants, hotels and events.

(Care home chef experience would be desired)

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum requirement)
Good understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements for older adults
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable, organised, and compassionate approach
