About Alemara
Alemara is a London-based structural engineering consultancy delivering residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects throughout the UK. Our team includes Chartered Engineers with experience from some of the UK’s leading engineering consultancies, having contributed to major projects including HS2 and Hinkley Point C.

We work closely with architects, developers, contractors, surveyors, and Building Control authorities across London and are seeking a Chartered Structural Engineer to join our growing team.

The Role
We are looking for a Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE/MICE) to lead structural engineering projects from concept through to completion. This role offers significant autonomy, client-facing responsibility, and the opportunity to mentor junior engineers while contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

The successful candidate will oversee a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and refurbishment projects, providing technical leadership and ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Lead structural surveys, inspections, and technical assessments across a range of projects.
Prepare and review structural calculations, designs, specifications, and reports.
Design and assess structures in steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry.
Provide technical sign-off and quality assurance for engineering deliverables.
Manage projects from initial enquiry through to construction completion.
Liaise directly with clients, architects, contractors, surveyors, and Building Control.
Attend site inspections and resolve technical issues during construction.
Mentor and support graduate and junior engineers.
Contribute to business development and maintain strong client relationships.

Requirements
Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE, FIStructE, MICE, or equivalent).
Minimum 5–10 years’ UK structural engineering experience.
Strong experience delivering residential and commercial projects.
Extensive knowledge of UK building regulations, Eurocodes, and British Standards.
Proficiency in structural design software including Tekla Tedds.
Experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
Excellent report writing and communication skills.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Greater London.

Desirable
Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
Temporary works and construction-stage design experience.
Existing professional network within the London construction industry.
Experience supporting planning and building regulation applications.
