We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer & Service Improvement Analyst to join our team based at Lexicon House in Leeds. This is a key role based within our Management Information Team.
What the Role Offers
This role sits within the Management Information Team and acts as a key contact for performance and business reporting needs. The post-holder designs, develops and delivers complex regular and ad-hoc analysis for operational, corporate, internal and external reporting purposes. They are responsible for managing databases, data pipelines and storage systems, ensuring data is accurate, reliable and accessible. The role also involves presenting complex analysis to senior and varied audiences, resolving data issues, and supporting the development of reporting systems, including identifying and implementing AI and automation opportunities to improve processes across services.
Pay Rates
The role is offered at £45,000 to £54,000 dependent on skill and experience.

Hours & Working Pattern
This is the fixed term contract for two years
Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Representing the team as a "First point of contact" for business and reporting requirements.
Working directly with the operational and corporate directorates to design, develop and provide regular and ad-hoc highly complex, specialist analysis reports. This work will support operational & resource management, business planning and deliver external and internal reporting requirements validating the accuracy of outgoing information and communicating complex issues to the appropriate audiences for action.
Work within the Management Information team and be responsible for creating and managing databases, data pipelines and data storage systems, ensuring the accuracy, reliability and accessibility of data to those who require it and will be expected to present highly complex, specialist analysis to a variety of audiences including senior managers, whilst explaining all report findings and resolving any data issues.
Playing a key role in the future development of the organisation’s business and performance reporting procedures and systems, the post holder will work across all services identifying and implementing AI and automation solutions to streamline appropriate current manual systems and working practices.

- Educated to post graduate level.
- Demonstrable experience working in this field and evidence of working in a role that necessitated working independently without day-to-day direction.
- Experience of information extraction, transformation, and loading, and data analysis experience
- Previous experience in NHS and of working with NHS patient systems including SystmOne and Out of Hour data sets.
- Experience of data store platforms, data modelling and schema design
- Experience of T-SQL
- Experience of working with, designing, building and maintaining Data Pipelines and Azure
- Experience of pattern recognition, predictive techniques, data driven decision making and Artificial Intelligence.
- Practical experience in designing and developing AI-powered solutions and automations (chat bots, analytic systems and Retrieval-augmented Generations (RAG).
- Advanced level in MS Office Excel, Power Query, Power BI, SQL, Azure data environment and Python.
- Reporting writing, interpretation and presenting complex information
- Ability to analyse and interpret a range of complex performance & business data, present findings and identify actions for improving service performance
- Ability to use AI to create intelligent data platforms
- Use of AI and automation to allow interaction with large and complex data sets using natural language.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own and team workloads to meet changing demands
- Submission of data to ECDS, CSDS and faster data flows.
- Data Warehouse building and maintenance
- Practical experience of automated schema coding.
