About the Role

Witt Group – Fan Systems is looking for an experienced Laser Operator to join our production team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality components to specification. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to working safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.

You will work closely with the wider production team to meet production targets, maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement across the workshop.

Key Responsibilities

As a Laser Operator, your main responsibilities will include:

Setting up and operating laser cutting machines in line with job specifications and production requirements.
Loading and securing materials, including metal sheets, ready for cutting.
Adjusting laser parameters such as power, speed and focus to achieve accurate and efficient results.
Reading and interpreting technical drawings, CAD files and job instructions.
Checking dimensions, tolerances and material types before starting each job.
Monitoring the laser cutting process to ensure quality, accuracy and consistency.
Inspecting finished parts and making adjustments where required.
Identifying and reporting any errors, imperfections or production issues.
Carrying out routine machine maintenance, including cleaning lenses, checking coolant levels and replacing worn parts.
Troubleshooting minor mechanical or programming issues.
Working with the maintenance team on more complex repairs and planned maintenance.
Following all health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
Keeping the work area clean, organised and free from hazards.
Supporting process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste and improve machine performance.
Working collaboratively with the production team to meet deadlines and performance targets.

About You

We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical and detail-focused, with a strong understanding of laser cutting operations.

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience as a Laser Operator or in a similar manufacturing or industrial role.
Knowledge of laser cutting machinery and processes..
Experience using hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment
A strong commitment to health and safety.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A positive, can-do attitude and a dependable approach to work.

Experience Required

Ideally a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Laser Operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience working with laser cutting equipment.
Experience in a production or fabrication environment would be advantageous.
