About the role
At Balfour Beatty, we're creating and maintaining infrastructure that communities rely on every day. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Living Places East Sussex team, leading the successful delivery of highway and infrastructure projects across the county.
As a key leader within the business, you will take overall responsibility for project delivery from feasibility and design through to construction, commissioning and handover. Working closely with East Sussex County Council and a wide range of stakeholders, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the delivery of highway and infrastructure projects across East Sussex.
- Managing multidisciplinary teams including Project Managers, Works Supervisors and Designers.
- Driving project governance, reporting, planning and programme management.
- Providing visible leadership across live construction sites and ensuring safe delivery.
- Overseeing project budgets, commercial performance and NEC contract administration.
- Managing risks, early warnings, compensation events and cost recovery opportunities.
- Building strong relationships with clients, local authorities, utility providers, communities and supply chain partners.
- Leading construction readiness reviews, mobilisation activities and delivery planning.
- Supporting business development activities, feasibility studies and work-winning opportunities.
- Championing continuous improvement, collaboration and high-performance team culture.
Who we're looking for
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex highways, infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and client relationship management skills.
- Commercial awareness with experience of contract administration and cost control.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts and change management processes.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience implementing safe systems of work and driving a positive health and safety culture.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
