Crombies of Edinburgh is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Butcher's Assistant to join our friendly team at our counter within The Broughton Market on Broughton Street, Edinburgh.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with one of Edinburgh's well-known butchers in a customer-facing role, serving high-quality meat products and supporting the day-to-day running of our busy counter.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving customers at the butcher's counter with excellent customer service.
- Preparing, stocking and replenishing the display counter.
- Assisting with the preparation and presentation of meat products.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the shop.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Previous experience handling and serving meat in a butcher's shop or similar environment.
- A valid Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Friendly, approachable and professional manner.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a small team.
- Reliable, organised and able to work in a busy retail environment.
Working Hours
This is a 38.75-hour per week position based on a rotating four-week schedule.
Rota 1 (4 weeks):
- Tuesday to Saturday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
Rota 2 (4 weeks):
- Tuesday to Friday: 9:30am – 6:00pm
- Saturday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
You will alternate between these rotas every four weeks.
About Us You will be part of a small, supportive team within our Broughton Street shop. Our counter is supplied daily by our nearby production facility, ensuring customers receive the high-quality products Crombies of Edinburgh is known for.
