Engineering Maintenance Supervisor

Hours of work: 40 - 5 days over 7 on a rotating shift pattern

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Maintenance Supervisor to lead and coordinate a multi-skilled engineering team across a large, critical campus environment comprising approximately 20 buildings.
This role plays a key part in ensuring that both planned and reactive maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in full compliance with statutory and organisational standards.
Working Pattern: 5 days over 7 on a rotating shift pattern covering:
- 06:00 - 14:00
- 10:00 - 16:00
- 22:00 - 06:00
Includes weekend working on a 1 in 8 rota, with weekend shifts worked on day shifts only.
Job Description
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual who can combine strong supervisory capability with a hands-on engineering mindset.
The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, maintain accurate compliance records, and support the development of the engineering team while working within a diverse and technically challenging estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of approximately 15 engineers operating across three shifts
- Plan, coordinate and monitor maintenance activities across a large and varied estate
- Ensure all statutory compliance, safety procedures and maintenance records are maintained accurately
- Manage permits, documentation, audits and engineering records
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to engineers across multiple disciplines
- Use CAFM and other IT systems to manage records and demonstrate compliance
- Monitor and drive completion of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works
- Support workforce and succession planning within the engineering team
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Holds a relevant technical qualification (essential)
- Experience supervising a reasonably sized engineering team
- Highly organised with a strong focus on compliance and safety
- Able to work autonomously and take initiative
- IT literate and confident maintaining accurate documentation
- Hands-on approach with a practical engineering mindset
- Background in electrical, mechanical or building services engineering
