All-Round Café Team Member (Part-Time)
Location: The Mere Coffee Shop , Diss
We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic person to join our small team at Mere Coffee.
We’ve only been open for two weeks, so we’re still a very new business and learning and growing together. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a close-knit team and wants to grow with us.
We’re believe in rewarding hard work. As you develop in your role and the café continues to grow, there will be opportunities for your pay to increase based on your performance, responsibilities and the success of the business.
This is a varied, hands-on role. You’ll be helping customers, keeping the café running smoothly and working as part of a supportive team.
Hours
- Typically 10:00am–3:00pm, weekdays.
- There may occasionally be a need to stay until 4:30pm, with paid overtime.
- Set working days can be agreed, and we’re happy to offer flexibility where possible.
What you’ll be doing
- Welcoming and serving customers with a friendly, approachable attitude.
- Operating the till and taking payments.
- Clearing and cleaning tables, keeping the café looking its best.
- Pot wash and general kitchen support.
- Restocking and helping with day-to-day café duties.
- If you’re interested, we’ll happily train you on our coffee machine and drinks station, giving you the opportunity to learn barista skills as you grow with the team.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, confident and enjoys talking to people.
- Patient and understanding, as many of our lovely regular customers are elderly and appreciate a little extra time and conversation.
- Comfortable handling payments and using a till.
- Happy to be on their feet and working in a busy environment.
- Reliable, hardworking and willing to get stuck in wherever needed.
- Has a good understanding of customer service and food hygiene.
- Enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in keeping the café clean, welcoming and running smoothly.
Previous customer service or hospitality experience is preferred but isn’t essential. We’re much more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, a positive personality and a willingness to learn—we can teach the rest.
