Full job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our dynamic Hospital Liaison Team. You will provide expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients presenting with a wide range of mental health needs.

As a senior clinical leader, you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, offering specialist advice to medical colleagues within The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. You will contribute to service development, clinical governance, teaching and supervision, helping to shape high-quality, patient-centred mental health care within the hospital environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Consultant Psychiatrist with excellent clinical, communication and leadership skills. You will be committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care and driving innovation across liaison psychiatry services. Working member of multidisciplinary teams, the post holder will provide consultant clinical input as required, including face-to-face patient assessment for complex urgent acute liaison cases who are adults of working age. The clinical care of patients under the team will be timely and tailored to the needs of patients and their caregivers. The consultant will be expected to have a flexible weekly timetable designed to respond in a timely and reasonable manner to the needs of patients and caregivers as well as of team members for support and advice as necessary. The post-holder will work largely through advice and supervision with direct patient contact as required, with no personal caseload but with rapid throughput of patients and a need for prompt and flexible decision making. This more fluid style of working does not allow for easy quantification of workload.
