Apprentice Estate & Lettings Agent
£8.50 per hour (approx. £16,023 per year)
Blackshaw Homes – Southend-on-Sea
Full-time | Apprenticeship | Junior Estate Agent Level 2
Blackshaw Homes is looking for an ambitious and reliable person who wants to start a genuine career in property.
We are not looking for previous estate agency experience. We are looking for the right person.
For us, attitude, commitment and willingness to learn are far more important than having worked in property before.
This is an opportunity to learn the whole estate agency business from the ground up, working across both residential sales and lettings rather than being limited to basic office administration.
You will work alongside experienced members of our team and gradually be given more responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop.
What you’ll learn
You’ll gain hands-on experience across the business, including:
- Residential property sales and lettings
- Speaking with buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants
- Registering and following up applicants
- Arranging and eventually conducting property viewings
- Following up viewing feedback and enquiries
- Learning how to negotiate offers
- Property inspections
- Property marketing and preparing properties for launch
- Learning how properties are valued
- Sales progression
- Lettings applications and tenancy progression
- Property management and maintenance
- Using professional estate agency software
- Property compliance and administration
- Building long-term relationships with clients
You’ll spend time both in the office and out at properties, giving you a broad understanding of how a successful estate and letting agency operates.
The person we’re looking for
You don’t need to arrive knowing how to be an estate agent — we’ll teach you.
What we can’t teach as easily is the right attitude.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and punctual
- Hard-working and willing to get stuck in
- Genuinely keen to learn
- Confident and personable
- Comfortable speaking to people on the phone and face-to-face
- Organised with good attention to detail
- Comfortable using computers and technology
- Able to listen and follow instructions
- Willing to take responsibility
- Positive and professional
- Motivated to improve and progress
- Looking for a career rather than simply a short-term job
A full UK driving licence and access to a car are highly desirable, as the role will involve travelling to properties for viewings, inspections and other appointments.
Your apprenticeship
Alongside your practical training at Blackshaw Homes, you will work towards the Junior Estate Agent Level 2 Apprenticeship with an approved training provider.
You’ll receive structured learning alongside your day-to-day experience, while our team teaches you how the job works in the real world.
As you develop, we want you to progress from supporting the team to confidently dealing with customers, conducting appointments and taking responsibility for your own workload.
Where could it lead?
We are looking for someone we can invest our time in and develop for the long term.
For the right person, successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a permanent position and further progression within sales, lettings or property management.
Estate agency can provide an excellent career for someone with the right personality, work ethic and determination.
If you’re ambitious, reliable and prepared to put the effort in, we’ll give you the opportunity to learn the industry properly.

Please submit your CV and complete all of the application screening questions in full.
We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in the opportunity, so please take the time to give thoughtful answers. Applications where the screening questions have not been completed, or where little or no effort has been made in answering them, will not be considered.
