Full job description

Staff Nurse – Surgical HDU

Location: KIMS Hospital, Maidstone

Hours: Bank (Zero Hours)

Shifts: Days, Nights and Weekends

Hourly Rate: £26.00 per hour (plus holiday pay)

As an HDU Staff Nurse at KIMS Hospital, you’ll work alongside our dedicated Ward Manager to provide exceptional care to surgical patients requiring Level 2 High Dependency Care, enhanced step-down care, and post-operative surgical care along elective pathways.

Role Responsibilities

As a Surgical Critical Care Nurse, you will:

Assess, plan and deliver care, based on individual patient needs in conjunction with the Multi-disciplinary Team.
Demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and be accountable for own actions.
Work within a team, supervising and directing junior staff and deputising for Senior Staff as required.
Participate in the training and development of staff to care for levels2 patients in the High dependency beds in the ward.
Ensure that own professional development is maintained and enhanced by engaging in external support from the Kent Critical Care network and surrounding NHS Trust.

Person Specification

Essential

Be a qualified Nurse with a Current NMC Registration.
Have post-registration clinical experience in a Critical Care setting.
Have evidence of your continuous professional development and its application.

Desirable

Hold a post graduate qualification in Surgical Nursing or Critical care.
Mentorship training and qualification
Have post registration medicine, surgery, orthopaedic or cardiac experience.
