The Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Financial Management to lead high-quality financial reporting, control, and business partnering across the College. In this senior role, you will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain robust systems and controls, and provide valuable financial insight to support decision-making. Working closely with senior leaders, you will drive continuous improvement, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and help shape the College’s financial strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Alongside the Head of Finance, manage the production of accurate, timely, and compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure the integrity of financial data within the general ledger and all subsidiary systems.
- Develop and maintain high-quality financial reporting packs and dashboards for budget holders, senior leadership and governors.
- Maintain a strong finance business partnering model across curriculum and professional service areas.
- Oversee financial systems, ensuring they are fit for purpose, efficient, and aligned to organisational needs.

Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) (Essential)
- A commitment to continually develop and undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role (Essential)
- Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant professional qualification (Desirable)
- Management Qualification (Desirable)
Experience
- Significant experience in a senior financial management or financial reporting role (Essential)
- Proven track record of producing accurate and timely financial reports in a complex organisation (Essential)
- Experience within the Further Education or public sector (Desirable)
- Experience of working with funding body requirements (e.g. DfE or equivalent) (Desirable)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including income recognition principles (Essential)
- In-depth understanding of financial controls, reporting standards, and best practice (Essential)
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements (Essential)
- Knowledge of Further Education funding methodologies and regulatory environment (Desirable)
