Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Primary Care Pharmacy Technician to join our remote clinical team on a 6-month fixed-term contractor basis, with the potential for extension.
This is a part-time remote position, working 22.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You will work closely with GPs, Clinical Pharmacists and practice teams to support medicines optimisation, medication safety and high-quality patient care across a GP practice.
This role is suited to a Pharmacy Technician with previous GP Practice or Primary Care Network experience who is confident working independently within a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support medicines optimisation activities within the practice.
- Process medication reconciliation following hospital discharge and outpatient appointments.
- Assist with repeat prescription queries and prescribing workflows.
- Complete medication monitoring and recall work in line with practice protocols.
- Support long-term condition monitoring and medicines-related administrative work.
- Review prescribing against local and national guidance to improve patient safety.
- Support medicines safety audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with QOF, IIF and Enhanced Service-related work where appropriate.
- Identify patients requiring medication reviews and support Clinical Pharmacists with workload.
- Liaise with patients, community pharmacies and secondary care regarding medication-related queries.
- Maintain accurate clinical records using the practice clinical system.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, Clinical Pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Minimum 6 months of GP Practice or Primary Care Network experience.
- Experience using SystmOne.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage workload independently while working remotely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality patient care.
Desirable Qualifications & Skills
- Experience supporting QOF and Enhanced Services.
- Knowledge of medicines optimisation within Primary Care.
- Experience completing medication reconciliation and prescribing support work.
- Experience undertaking audits and quality improvement projects.
- Understanding of NHS prescribing guidance and medication safety initiatives.
