Paralegal / CHC Advocate
Compass CHC is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Paralegal / Trainee Advocate to join our expanding team at a significant stage of organisational growth. This is a rewarding opportunity for a candidate with a strong commitment to justice, procedural fairness and securing lawful, evidence-based outcomes for individuals and families navigating the NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding process.
The successful candidate will be provided the training to become a real expert in what is a highly complex and niche area- extending to reviewing medical records, drafting robust representations and if the candidate is suitable, to develop into an advocacy role, representing clients and families pursuing NHS Continuing Healthcare funding.
This position is particularly suited to individuals with demonstrable advocacy and case-management experience gained within legal practice, regulatory proceedings, public sector decision-making, healthcare, social care, investigatory environments or tribunal-style processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, structure and present clear, persuasive and evidence-led submissions on behalf of clients.
- Analyse and evaluate complex medical records, care documentation, assessments and expert evidence in order to identify material facts, evidential deficiencies, procedural irregularities and inconsistencies.
- Draft high-quality legal-style representations, appeals, position statements, formal complaints and submissions, including matters escalated to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO).
- Maintain, handle and process confidential and sensitive personal data in strict compliance with GDPR, data protection legislation and internal governance procedures.
- Manage a varied caseload efficiently, ensuring all matters are progressed in a timely manner and in accordance with applicable deadlines, service standards and professional expectations.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive and contemporaneous case records and documentation.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the expertise at Compass CHC.
- Exercise sound professional judgment, accountability and ethical decision-making at all times.

Desirable Experience
- A qualifying law degree as a minimum.

Pay: £25,000.00-£25,500.00 per year
