We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and well-organised individual, to join our team as an Assistant Medical Secretary within the Rheumatology Department at York Hospital.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join our busy team, to provide secretarial support to the Rheumatology Consultants and the wider clinical teams.
Excellent administration/secretarial skills and audio-typing experience/qualifications are required, together with demonstrable customer service skills and experience.
You will be involved in supporting a busy clinical service, gaining exposure to complex medical terminology and developing a strong understanding of pathways and patient care processes.
This is an opportunity to build your administrative skills within a supportive and collaborative team, while contributing to the effective and efficient running of a fast-paced clinical department.

You will be responsible for typing clinical and administrative letters, answering telephone enquiries from patients, GPs and colleagues from within the Trust from various staffing groups.
The successful candidate will be required to have good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise the demands of a busy office and manage their time and workload effectively.
Utilise strong administrative and audio-typing skills, supported by relevant experience or qualifications, to produce accurate clinical correspondence.
Print, process, transmit, and distribute patient correspondence and results letters, ensuring deadlines are met and items are sent promptly to the post room where required.
Offer cross-cover and administrative support to Medical Secretaries across the wider Rheumatology Department when required.
Undertake a range of general administrative and office duties to support the efficient day-to-day running of the service.
Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied and demanding workload.
Maintain effective communication with members of the medical secretary team and wider staff.
Adhere to strict standards of confidentiality, data protection, and professionalism at all times.
Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, demonstrating a confident and courteous telephone manner.
