What you’ll be doing
As an Optometrist at Boots, you’ll play a key role in delivering brilliant patient care – using the latest tech, working alongside experienced colleagues, and supporting your community with clinical excellence. Whether you're leading a clinic, responding to triage, or mentoring others, no two days are the same, and your growth never stops.
Key responsibilities

Leading clinics and delivering outstanding patient care

Using the latest testing technology to assess eye health and provide expert advice

Providing enhanced services, from triage support to advanced assessments, depending on store needs

Offering clinical support to colleagues on the shop floor

Collaborating with external healthcare professionals

Keeping your clinical knowledge up to date and sharing it with others

Playing a key role in your store’s leadership team, bringing energy and insight to every shift
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)-
We’re looking for Optometrists who are confident, compassionate, and always focused on doing the right thing for patients.

GOC registered (or expecting to be within 6 months)

NHS performer number (or working towards it)
-
Excellent communication and organisation skills
-
A genuine interest in patient care and team collaboration
It would be great if you also have-
Experience supporting enhanced services

A strong understanding of local clinical networks

- Services delivered in store: This busy city-centre store offers a range of NHS and private optical services, supported by Optomap technology and an integrated Boots Hearingcare service in store. Newly qualified Optometrists are encouraged to apply.
- Team structure: You will join a close-knit, welcoming and experienced team consisting of 2 Resident Optometrists, 1 Assistant Store Manager/Dispensing Optician, 5 Optical Consultants - a growing team focused on delivering outstanding patient care. The store has 3 testing rooms with 25-minute testing times, allowing you to provide a high standard of clinical care.
As the recipient of Store of the Year last year, this ambitious and high-performing store is at the heart of Carlisle's vibrant city centre. Serving a mixed demographic patient base, the store offers an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a supportive environment. Conveniently located just 10 minutes from the M6 and a 5-minute walk from Carlisle train station, the store is easily accessible, with parking available nearby for approximately £3.60 per day.
