About Us
Genesis Hartmore is a care and education provider based in Gloucestershire, supporting children, young people and adults through specialist education and residential services. We believe that great outcomes start with great people, so we invest in building a supportive, inclusive culture where colleagues feel valued, trusted and empowered to make a difference.
Our work is built on strong relationships, high professional standards and a shared commitment to safeguarding and delivering outstanding care. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an HR Adviser who shares these values and enjoys working closely with managers to support, develop and strengthen our people.
Role Overview
As an HR Adviser, you will provide proactive, practical HR support across our schools, children's residential homes and adult residential services. Acting as a trusted partner to managers, you will support the full employee lifecycle, ensuring people practices align with our values, safeguarding responsibilities, safer recruitment requirements and employment legislation. This is an onsite role with travel between our Schools, residential homes and Head Office.
A key part of the role will be managing employee relations casework, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance, attendance and wellbeing matters. You will also support recruitment, onboarding, workforce compliance, policy development and manager coaching, helping to build confident leaders, engaged teams and a positive working environment.
Working closely with operational leaders and safeguarding colleagues, you will ensure people decisions are fair, consistent, legally compliant and focused on achieving the best outcomes for the children, young people, adults and colleagues we support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert HR advice and guidance to managers across disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, performance, conduct and probation matters.
- Lead and support HR investigations, formal meetings and hearings, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant processes.
- Monitor and advise on sickness absence, wellbeing, occupational health referrals and reasonable adjustments.
- Support safer recruitment processes, including pre-employment checks, onboarding and workforce compliance requirements.
- Advise on safeguarding-related employment matters, working closely with safeguarding leads and senior leaders where concerns arise regarding suitability to work with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, HR policies, safeguarding requirements and sector regulations.
- Coach and support managers to build confidence and capability in managing people issues effectively.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR data and compliance documentation, including recruitment and safeguarding records.
- Produce HR reports and workforce insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to policy development, HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen organisational culture and employee engagement.
What We're Looking For
- At least three years' experience in an HR Adviser or HR Officer role with strong employee relations and case management experience.
- Experience managing disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management and investigation processes.
- A good understanding of UK employment law, HR best practice and fair process.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and safer recruitment requirements, ideally within education, care, health or another regulated environment.
- Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding and workforce compliance activities.
- CIPD Level 3 or above (or working towards) is desirable, although relevant practical experience is equally valued.
- Excellent communication, organisational and relationship building skills, with the confidence to influence, support and challenge constructively.
- A professional, resilient and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and integrity.
If you're looking for an HR role where you can build trusted relationships, support managers to get the best from their teams, and make a genuine difference in a values led organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
