About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and hands-on Gardening & Hard Landscaping Team Leader to lead our maintenance crew.
This is a practical, customer-facing role suited to someone who is confident leading a small team while working alongside them on site. Our core work is soft landscaping and garden maintenance, with occasional hard landscaping projects.
The successful candidate will need to be highly dependable, well organised and confident taking responsibility for jobs from start to finish. You will also be representing the company directly to clients, so excellent communication, a polite manner and strong customer service skills are essential.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong professional experience in general gardening and garden maintenance
- Excellent tree care, pruning and hedge-trimming skills
- Proven experience supervising and directing a small team
- Hands-on hard landscaping experience, including paving and basic joinery
- A full, valid driving licence and the ability to transport team members and equipment
- Excellent standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- A reliable and responsible approach to work
- Excellent punctuality and time management
- A friendly, professional and naturally polite manner
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- The ability to work independently, use initiative and take ownership of jobs
- A willingness to get involved in the physical, hands-on aspects of the work
Plant knowledge is a strong advantage.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership
- Lead and organise a small maintenance team on site
- Allocate tasks and ensure work is completed efficiently and to a consistently high standard
- Manage daily schedules and ensure jobs stay on track
- Lead by example and work alongside the team when required
- Take responsibility for the overall quality and completion of each job
Gardening & Maintenance
- Carry out and oversee day-to-day garden maintenance
- Grass cutting and general lawn care
- Weeding and planting
- Detailed pruning
- Hedge trimming
- Tree cutting and general tree care
- Maintain gardens to a high standard with excellent attention to detail
Hard Landscaping
Alongside our regular maintenance work, you will occasionally undertake hard landscaping projects, including:
- Fencing
- Decking
- Timber borders and basic joinery
- Paving and patio installations
- Other general hard landscaping tasks
You should be comfortable working with your hands and have the practical skills to complete these tasks to a good professional standard.
Client Relations
- Act as a friendly and professional point of contact for clients on site
- Communicate clearly and courteously with customers
- Answer questions and respond appropriately to client requests
- Maintain a professional image and consistently high standard of customer service
