About Solidcor
Solidcor is Britain's fastest-growing fire door manufacturer. We were built in the aftermath of Grenfell by founders who saw the need for rapid change, and our mission has stayed the same since: make volume fire door replacement possible within days, not months, and help the industry achieve compliance and community safety fast.
Our R-Series and T-Series doorsets pair a solid, fire-resistant timber core with a maintenance-free finish, backed by the widest range of primary-tested configurations in the industry and an industry-leading 10-day production turnaround — the fastest in the market. We're trusted by NHS trusts, housing associations, contractors and communities across the UK to deliver doors that protect lives, fast.
We're changing how we recruit. We're not filling seats — we're building a team of the best people in the industry, and we're prepared to pay above the going rate to do it.
A New Factory. A New Standard.
2026 is the year Solidcor moves into a brand-new, state-of-the-art production facility, built from the ground up around a completely new way of working. We're investing in machinery imported from America, Italy, Spain and China — some of the most capable door-manufacturing technology in the world, brought together under one roof.
We're already best in class. This move is how we become world class. We're building an elite team of craftspeople who want to embrace that new way of working from day one and help take Solidcor to the next level.
The Role
As a CNC Machine Operator, crossed trained on industry leading machinery including automated and semi-automated CNC machines, saws, Edgebanders etc you'll run some of the most precise machinery in the business — 5-axis CNC cross-trained across beamsaws, edgebanders and other production equipment — turning certified components into the structural core of every fire door we build. Tight tolerances aren't a guideline here, they're the job: on a fire door, close enough isn't good enough, market leading machine worth in excess of 600K.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, set and optimise 5-axis CNC machinery (SCM preferred) to produce components to certified fire door specifications.
- Work confidently from technical drawings, adjusting programs and setups to hold tight tolerances.
- Measure and inspect your own output at every stage — catch any deviation before it moves to the next process.
- Record production data, output and performance metrics accurately.
- Cross-train across the machine shop (beamsaws, edgebanders and other kit) to build a genuinely versatile, high-value skillset.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and housekeeping on and around your machine.
What We're Looking For
- Proven CNC machining experience — 5-axis essential.
- Experience with SCM CNC or timber/fire door manufacturing is a strong advantage.
- Confidence reading technical drawings and recording accurate manufacturing data.
- Real attention to detail and process discipline — you don't let a tolerance drift because the shift is nearly over.
- Above all, cultural fit. This role is for people who bring our three values to life on the machine floor every shift.
Our Values — What We Actually Hire For
- Athlete's Grit — you push for precision and pace shift after shift, and you don't ease off when a job gets awkward or the pressure's on.
- Captain's Duty — you own your machine and your output completely — you catch your own mistakes rather than passing a problem down the line.
- Fun-Loving Heart — you bring good energy to the machine shop and make it a place people want to work, even on a long run.
What You'll Get
- The chance to be part of the founding team in our brand-new, state-of-the-art factory, operating the newest CNC machinery imported from America, Italy, Spain and China as we move from best-in-class to world-class.
- A salary set deliberately above the industry standard for 5-axis CNC operators, because we want the best and we're prepared to pay for it.
- Ongoing CNC training and career development on some of the most technically demanding equipment in the industry.
- Free Friday meals and a genuine Reward & Recognition scheme.
- Company pension and free on-site parking.
- A clear, transparent pay matrix as you progress.
- Real purpose in the work: every component you machine becomes part of a door protecting someone's life.
