About PCL Net Zero
At PCL Net Zero, we're helping homes and businesses across the Lake District and Cumbria move towards a cleaner, more sustainable future. We specialise in the design, installation, and maintenance of air-source heat pumps, solar PV systems, battery storage, EV charging infrastructure, and efficient heating systems. Our mission is to make the journey to net zero straightforward, practical, and reliable.
Our team combines deep technical expertise with a personal, customer-focused approach. We take pride in doing things properly - from high-quality installations and long-term servicing, to our strong ties with manufacturers, universities, and research facilities.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced Electrician to take on a senior, supervisory position leading our electrical team. You'll act as our MCS-registered Technical Supervisor for solar PV and battery storage installations, taking day-to-day responsibility for the technical quality and compliance of our renewable electrical work, while managing and mentoring an electrician and an apprentice.
Beyond hands-on and supervisory electrical work, you'll carry out site surveys and prepare quotations for solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, and general electrical projects, working closely with our design and project delivery teams to scope jobs accurately from first contact through to commissioning.
This is a genuine step up for someone ready to combine strong technical electrical skills with team leadership and customer-facing responsibility in a growing low-carbon energy business.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Technical Supervisor (as defined under MCS) for solar PV and battery storage installations, taking responsibility for technical compliance and sign-off.
- Line-manage and mentor an electrician and an apprentice, overseeing workload allocation, quality of work, and on-the-job development.
- Carry out site surveys for solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, and electrical installation projects.
- Prepare accurate quotations and scopes of work for domestic and commercial renewable and electrical projects.

- Carry out first and second fix electrical work across domestic and commercial projects.
- Support electrical connections for air-source heat pump and heating system installations.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults safely and efficiently.
- Carry out periodic inspection, testing, and certification in accordance with BS 7671:2018 (18th Edition, Amendment 2).
- Prepare and issue EICR, EIC, and MCS commissioning documentation to the required standard.
- Collaborate with our mechanical, design, and project delivery teams.
- Ensure all work meets MCS, Part P, NAPIT, and health & safety requirements.
- Complete accurate test certificates, commissioning records, and project documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service and uphold PCL Net Zero values on site.
