Student Facility Management is a growing student accommodation provider, operating purpose-built student accommodation schemes nationally, both privately and in partnership with Universities.
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Caretaker to support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of our student accommodation scheme in Leeds.
The role requires a flexible and proactive approach to ensure the highest standards of service are delivered at all times. This may include occasional weekend working and some out-of-hours cover.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuilding Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out general building repairs and routine maintenance
- Use a range of hand tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Produce and follow schedules of work where required
- Identify and report maintenance issues promptly
Cleaning & Housekeeping
- Carry out regular cleaning of communal areas, including corridors, stairwells, and entrances
- Ensure communal areas are kept clean, tidy, and presentable at all times
- Report any damage, defects, or health and safety concerns identified during cleaning duties
Health & Safety
- Conduct regular health & safety checks on buildings and equipment
- Maintain a safe working environment in line with legislation and company policies
- Ensure compliance with fire safety and general site safety procedures
Stock & Supplier Management
- Monitor and manage maintenance and cleaning stock levels
- Work with external suppliers and contractors, obtaining quotations where required
- Report supplier information and costs to the Accommodation Manager
Administration & Customer Service
- Complete basic administrative tasks related to maintenance and caretaking duties
- Provide a high standard of customer service to residents and visitors
- Represent the business professionally at all times
Flexibility & Cover
- Work outside normal working hours when required
- Provide short-notice cover across schemes when necessary
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in a caretaker, handyperson, or maintenance role
- Experience carrying out cleaning duties, particularly in communal or residential settings
- Good general understanding of health & safety regulations
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload effectively
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Professional, reliable, and flexible approach to work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
