Mechanical Engineer / Fitter
JG Pears is one of the UK's leading processors of animal by-products and food waste. Pioneering environmentally aware practices since we started out in 1972, we play a vital role in the agricultural and food industries.
The successful candidate will ideally be apprentice trained, to minimum level 2 (C&G / EAL NVQ). We will also consider those who have an attitude for mechanical work or have experience in a similar role. They will work as part of a knowledgeable team to ensure that all plant, equipment, buildings and infrastructure are maintained in accordance with current health, safety, environmental and equipment legislation standards.
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off days/nights (average of 43 hours a week).
*Candidates must be able to travel to location of business

Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering background with hands-on experience.
- Understanding of Health and Safety legislation and responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly motivated and willing to support others.
- Manufacturing / Process experience with evidence of PPM delivery and control.
- Ability to demonstrate fault-finding skills.
- Must be open to further personal development in line with the Company training plan.
- Be able to work on your own, proficiently, without immediate supervision, or as part of a team.
- Must be eligible to work in UK.
Responsibilities
- Working closely with production to maximise utilisation of site assets.
- Maintain maximum effectiveness and benefit from existing site equipment.
- Assist with development of new manufacturing methods and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Proactively drive improvement and cost savings of energy and utilities whilst maintaining the ability to meet varying and increasing demands from production.
- Work cross functionally to deliver a consistent and dynamic approach to continuous improvement.
- To ensure all work is completed in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct planned maintenance of plant in adherence to the CMMS system (Holistech).
- Completion of all relevant, statutory documentation.
